Kitchenhand/ Bakery Assistant

Pastry Chef

Wanaka’s award-winning Pembroke Patisserie in Albert Town has an opportunity for a qualified Pastry Chef.

Based in Albert Town, a 5-minute drive from the Wanaka central business district, at Pembroke Patisserie we create a range of classic patisserie offerings, including our now-famous pastries, doughnuts and savouries as well as freshly made breads & sandwiches complimented by Allpress coffee.

Voted 2023 Best French Bakery in NZ, Pembroke Patisserie delivers excellence in patisserie, bakery and customer service.

We operate 7 days a week with rostered hours between 5am-4pm.

Our kitchen team is a diverse international crew who are dedicated and disciplined in their roles. Our ability to work as a team is central to our success and reputation and we are looking for someone who can appreciate the importance of working together, meeting deadlines and can focus on getting the job done whilst enjoying the creative hospitality scene and lifestyle that Wanaka offers.

We are looking for an experienced and qualified Pastry Chef.

The role is suitable for a candidate with a NZ Certificate in Baking Level 3-4 or Le Cordon Bleu Certificate, or industry equivalent from another country.

Ideally you will have 2-3 years of experience in a commercial bakery and pastry kitchen and will be proficient in dough lamination, croissant, bread, sourdough and decorating.

You’ll need to be:

  • Innovative
  • Good time management
  • Use established systems and routines
  • Able to ensure quality control is consistent.

Ideally applicants will be residents in NZ and or seeking long term employment.  If you are on a working visa, please clearly explain when they expire and your conditions.

This is a full time, ongoing role for someone looking to permanently settle in Wanaka. This position offers a rate of pay between $25 – $30 per hour depending on experience.

Pembroke Patisserie - what coffee means to us

Front of House Supervisor

Wanaka’s award-winning Pembroke Patisserie in Albert Town has an opportunity to join our Front of House Team.

We create a range of classic patisserie offerings, including our now-famous pastries, doughnuts and savouries as well as freshly made breads & sandwiches complimented by Allpress coffee.

An opportunity exists to join the awesome team at our busy patisserie as our next Front of House Supervisor.

The role requires previous hospitality & barista experience. Day to day tasks involve:

  • supervising the front of house team
  • delegating tasks and monitoring breaks
  • delivering great customer outcomes
  • barista service
  • supporting the Café Manager and kitchen team
  • ensuring policies & procedures are adhered to

We are looking for someone with a strong hospitality background, a passion for delivering excellent customer service, holds organisational skills and can lead a team. At Pembroke Patisserie we work hard with high pace, high skill and high energy. This is a full-time, permanent position, 40 hours per week. You must be able to work weekends and school holidays.

You must be presentable, reliable, friendly and professional with an eye for detail. Hospitality customer service experience is a must and bakery experience would also be an advantage.
