Baker / Pastry Chef- Full Time

Wanaka’s award-winning Pembroke Patisserie in Albert Town has an opportunity for a qualified Baker or Pastry Chef.

We are looking for the someone who can appreciate the importance of working together, meeting deadlines and can focus on getting the job done whilst enjoying the creative hospitality scene and lifestyle that Wanaka offers.

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Baker or Pastry Chef.

We operate 7 days per week with rostered hours between 5am- 4pm.

The role is suitable for a candidate with an NZ Certificate in Baking Level 3-4 or Le Cordon Bleu Certificate, or industry equivalent from another country.

This position offers a rate of pay between $29.99 – $34.99per hour depending on experience.

This is a full time, ongoing role for someone looking to permanently settle in Wanaka.

Ideally applicants will be residents in NZ and or seeking long term employment.  If you are on a working visa, please clearly explain when they expire and your conditions.

Sponsorship is available for the right candidate.

Candidates are responsible for providing their own accommodation and transportation.

We offer minimum of 30 hours per week.

 

Job Purpose:                 

To assist in the kitchen with pastry & baking duties including preparation, mixing, rolling, laminating, cutting, shaping, and baking of ingredients to produce breads, rolls, biscuits, cakes, pies, pastries, or other baked goods of a high quality and standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operating the pastry and bread section of the kitchen while working closely with the Head Chef & Kitchen manager
  • Working independently to complete preparation of orders as required
  • Carrying out food preparation and cleaning tasks
  • Ideally you will have 4-5 years of experience in a commercial bakery and pastry kitchen
  • You will be proficient in dough lamination, croissant, bread, and sourdough
  • You will be proficient in icing, decorating and finishing cakes, tarts, pastries
  • Use your pastry skills to create new and exciting dishes and have the patience and ability to show others too

You will be reliable, punctual, accurate, have a good sense of time management using established systems and routines to ensure quality control is consistent.
