Pastry Chef

The award-winning Pembroke Patisserie is based in Albert Town, a 5-minute drive from the Wanaka central business district. We create a range of classic patisserie offerings, including our now-famous pastries, doughnuts and savouries as well as freshly made sandwiches complimented by handmade chocolates and fresh breads. We operate 7 days a week with rostered hours between 5am-5pm.

We currently have an opportunity for a Pastry Chef to join our team and assist the Owner in the bakery with management and general kitchen duties including preparation, mixing and baking ingredients to produce breads, rolls, biscuits, cakes, pies, pastries, or other baked goods of high quality and standard.

As a renowned producer of quintessential French pastries, you will be an integral team member who enjoys developing product offerings and, will have a passion for high quality customer service and mouth-watering delights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pastry and dessert preparation and presentation
  • Bread & dough making, shaping and baking doughs and breads
  • Pastry making, laminating, shaping pastry items
  • Follow standard recipes accurately
  • Weigh, measure and mix ingredients using scales & electric mixers
  • Food preparation including pie mixes, sausage rolls, filled croissants, tarts, cakes, biscuits
  • Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
  • Ensure accurate and regular record keeping to maintain the Food Control Plan
  • Organising of wholesale and retail orders for preparation for following days
  • Liaising with the Owner & Sous Chef to ensure smooth running of the patisserie
  • Maintain the highest standard of cleanliness and hygiene
  • Washing Dishes by hand and using the dish washer as required
  • Carry out general cleaning as instructed by Sous Chef & Owner
  • Controlling Machines and Processes — using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles).
  • Customer Service – Perform duties as required
  • Perform bakery deliveries in the company vehicle as required
